Program Objectives:
The objective of the master’s program in Religious Studies is the academic study of religious issues. It aims to give the student a systematic knowledge of religion as a complex social phenomenon; To teach the diversity of religious beliefs and practices, scientific and critical analysis of current religious issues.
Students study the traditions, texts and theological issues of Abrahamic religions within the framework of the master's program in Religious Studies; They also study and explore religion as a significant factor in human life, cultural diversity and the role of religion in various areas of society.
The objective of the program is to make the student think about existential, ethical, social and political issues. By doing so, he will be able to analyze both historical and contemporary issues of religion contextually and critically.
Scholarship:
The Konrad Adenauer Foundation is setting up scholarships for successful students of the master’s program in Religious Studies at Ilia State University. The scholarship is established for the preparation of research at the master's level on the topic “Religion in Georgia in the Soviet period”. The aim of this initiative is to create new knowledge in Religious Studies, to support scientific research and young researchers on religious issues.
