Ismail Serageldin

Ismail Serageldin - director of the Bibliotheca Alexandrina in Egypt and professor of the WAGENINGEN University in Netherlands. He chairs the Boards of Directors for each of the BA's affiliated research institutes and museums. He is a Fellow of the World Academy of Art and Science, member of the Institutd'Egypte (Egyptian Academy of Science), the American Philosophical Society, TWAS (Third World Academy of Sciences), the Indian National Academy of Agricultural Sciences and the European Academy of Sciences and Arts, the American Academy of Arts and Sciences.

He is a former chairman of the Consultative Group on International Agricultural Research (1994-2000), also founder and former Chairman (1996-2000) of the "Global Water Partnership". Serageldin directed special programs of the World Bank (1998-2000), and has published 50 books and monographs and over 200 papers on various topics: biotechnology, rural development, sustainability, and the value of science in society. He holds a bachelor's degree in engineering science from Cairo University, as well as Harvard University MA and doctoral diplomas.
