Alexander Kvitashvili

Alexander Kvitashvili - historian, specializing in the modern history of Europe and the US, and the State Management Specialist. He graduated from Tbilisi State University and Robert F. Wagner Graduate School of Public Service in New York.

He has worked in: the Financial and Administrative departments of Atlanta Grade Medical Center; UNDP Georgia; Georgian Mission of the United Methodist Church Aid Committee (UMCOR); International fund of Georgian non-governmental organization - "Curatio"; as a consultant for various international organizations in Azerbaijan, Lithuania, Ukraine, Armenia and Serbia; Head of Administration of East-West Institute, New York.

On 31 January 2008, Alexander Kvitashvili was appointed as Minister of Health, Labour and Social Affairs of Georgia. On August 31, 2010, he was elected as the Acting Rector of Tbilisi State University and as a Rector on December 27.

On December 2 2014, President of Ukraine, Petro Poroshenko, awarded Alexander Kvitashvili with Ukrainian citizenship; on the same day, Kvitashvili was appointed as Minister of Healthcare of Ukraine.
