News

On November 21-26, the Georgian members of the Erasmus + funded CBHE project Strengthening the Quality and Relevance of the 3rd mission in Georgian Universities – SQUARE consortium visited the University of Turku in Turku, Finland, within the framework of training and job shadowing "Management of Economic 3M activities".

The representatives of the University of Turku offered the partners from Ilia State University the agenda focused on the activities of the third mission in the economic direction, which started with sharing the concept of the university as an entrepreneurial institution. In the perception of the hosts, the university is as important player in the economic development of the society as any other industrial entity. Therefore, the projects of the University of Turku are aimed at startups, spinoffs and similar projects that offer a wide variety of services and products to both the external and internal university community.

During the visit, representatives of Ilia State University, along with other speakers, met with the representatives of the University of Turku Research and Development Center, Science Park, Risk Management Department, who spoke about the principles of managing the activities carried out by the university in the direction of the third mission.

The project aims to improve the importance and quality of the third mission in Georgian higher education institutions with the involvement of top management and structural units. Provide methodologies and guidelines for higher education institutions to plan, implement and evaluate their third mission. Important is the fact that the ultimate goal of the project is to establish a regulatory document on the basis of which the role of the third mission is defined at the national level as a mandatory component of accreditation-authorization.
