EMBRACing changE: Overcoming Blockages and advancing democracy in the European Neighbourhood (EMBRACE)

From October 2022, Ilia State University is getting involved in a new project EMBRACing changE: Overcoming Blockages and advancing democracy in the European Neighbourhood (EMBRACE)” within the framework of Horizon Program.

The project is coordinated by Bergof Foundation Operations GMBH (Germany). Another project partners are:  University of Lleida (Spain), Maastricht University (Netherlands), University of Konstanz (Germany), Stockholm University (Sweden), Ghent University (Belgium), University of Manchester (Great Britain), University of Belgrade (Serbia), Hellenic Foundation for European and Foreign Policy (Greece), Ukrainian Association for European Studies (Ukraine), ARI Center for an Arab Reform Initiative (France), Concentris Research Management GMBH (Germany), PalThink for Strategic Studies (Palestine).

The project aims to study and analyze the blockages to democratization in the European neighborhood and identify ways to overcome them. The project has comparative nature and it studies hybrid and authoritarian regimes in the Eastern and Southern parts of EU neighborhood. Professors of the Faculty of Arts and Sciences: Giorgi Gvalia and David Aprasidze will represent Ilia State University in the project. ISU team will lead the study of empirical cases related to Georgia and Armenia, besides, it will be involved in the process of development of theoretical framework and practical recommendations of the project.

MEthodologies for Teamworking in Eco-Outwards Research- METEOR

The overall aim of METEOR is to improve the transversal skills of current doctoral candidates and early career researchers (ECR) through an innovative, collaborative and participatory training program. Improving transversal skills will have consequent benefits to both an individual's employability and the whole research ecosystem, in line with the principles of Open Science and Responsible Research and Innovation (RRI).

Within the framework of the project, recommendations for the development of institutional and governmental educational policy will be developed.
