 Ilia State University Technological Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Center organized a National Robotics School Contest for public and private school students of grades IX-XII in Georgia on December 26, 2022. The contest was funded and supported by the U.S. Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia and EPAM Georgia.

The Project – ‘AI Clubs in Georgian Schools’ is a funded program within the framework of the Democracy Commission Small Grants Program 2021 of the U.S. Embassy in Georgia.

The competition covered challenges in three directions using two different robot categories – mBot and 4WD Smart Robot Car.

The three directions of the competition included:

• Moving in a straight line - robots competed with each other for the first place in moving in a straight line. The winner was the one whose robot reached the finish line first.
• Zigzag movement - robots competed with each other to pass the zigzag black line without missing a section, and the winner was the one who completed the action the fastest.
• Moving through the maze - robots competed with each other to get from the starting point of the maze to the last exit point. The winner was the team whose robot covered the distance in the shortest time.

75 teams participated in the competition. According to the jury's decision and the summary of all three directions of the competition, one winning team was identified in the category of mBot and 4WD Smart Robot Car.

• The winner in the 4WD Smart Robot Car category was team from Khoni Mose Khoneli N1 Public School - "Lightning McQueen";
• The winner in the mBot robot category was the team from Rustavi N4 public school-"Lokokina".

Prizes:

• The partner company of the event-"LOPUS-ELECTRONICS" presented the winning teams with a voucher worth 250 GEL, which they can use in their stores. The company also allocated a 25% discount voucher for each registered participant.

The members of the winning teams were awarded with courses from the Technological Entrepreneurship and Innovation Development Center of Ilia State University:

• Graphic Design Course;
• 3D modeling course;
• Python course;
• Drone course;
• Electronics course.
