Ilia State University has been awarded a post-doctoral fellowship grant for 24 month to host a postdoc fellow from Ukraine in the field of social sciences, which is the part of the MSCA4Ukraine scheme that is funded under the EU’s Marie Skłodowska-Curie Actions. 

#MSCA4Ukraine provides fellowships to 111 post-doctoral and 13 doctoral researchers from Ukraine to continue their research in 21 host countries from which Georgia is the only non-EU, #HorizonEUrope Associated Country to receive the award through Ilia State University. 

The project "Identify effective pathways to reach children and adults with disabilities among refugees from Ukraine” will be developed jointly by prof. Shorena Sadzaglishvili (ISU) and prof. Kateryna Ihnatenko from Luhansk Taras Shevchenko National University. The research project will be vital for developing the researcher’s creative and innovative potential at Ilia State University as a host institution while maintaining her connections to research and innovation communities in Ukraine.

Launched in September 2022 as part of the EU’s response to the Russian Federation’s invasion of Ukraine, MSCA4Ukraine enables displaced researchers from Ukraine to continue their work at academic and non-academic organisations in EU member states and Horizon Europe associated countries. During the fellowship scientists will be able to continue their research work and will have access to training, skills and career development opportunities. 

The programme is implemented by Scholars at Risk Europe hosted at Maynooth University, Ireland, the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation, Germany, and the European University Association, Belgium.
