On March 6-7, 2023 the conference was organized and hosted by the Ministry of Education and Science of Georgia, within the framework of the Erasmus+ project "Strengthening the quality and relevance of the third mission in Georgian universities" (SQUARE). The Deputy Minister of Education and Science Nunu Mickevich welcomed participants with the opening speech.

Georgian Universities, in cooperation with European Partners, presented the strategic development vision and plans of the "Third Mission". On the other hand, European colleagues from Belgium, France, Portugal and Finland shared their experience on how to strengthen the "third mission" of the university.

All Georgian higher educational institutions had the opportunity to participate in the conference. Representatives of Tbilisi City Council, National Center for Educational Quality Enhancement, European Foundation for Management Development (EFMD), Nova University of Lisbon (UNL), University of Turku (UTU), Conservatoire national des arts et métiers - le Cnam (CNAM),  representatives from other  universities also took part in the conference.

Project in Brief

The goal of the project is to clearly define the mission and role of universities.Within the  framework of the project, to develop policy document, criteria and evaluation methodology of the "Third Mission", to update the national quality assurance system and accreditation procedures- are planned.
