A project from Ilia State University, titled “Addressing Academic Misconduct and Integrity in Georgia,” has been selected as a winner in the first call for project proposals announced by The Center for Governance and Culture in Europe (GCE-HSG) at the University of St. Gallen, Switzerland. This initiative, part of the BLACK SEA Initiative for 2025-2026, aims to support innovative projects that strengthen research and collaboration between Switzerland and the Black Sea region.
The project was developed by Dr. Tatiana Sitchinava, an assistant researcher at the Institute of Demography and Sociology at Ilia State University, and Dr. Elena Denisova-Schmidt, a professor at the University of St. Gallen.
The primary objective of the project is to identify and analyze the factors contributing to academic misconduct and unethical practices. It also explores the influence of migration on academic integrity. The research findings are expected to play a key role in strengthening academic integration processes and introducing positive practices within Georgia’s educational system.
This achievement marks a significant milestone not only for Ilia State University but also for the broader Georgian academic community. It underscores the university’s research potential and highlights the importance of international collaboration in addressing critical academic challenges.
