Public Lecture Series All about Ukraine

Ilia State University offers public lecture series All about Ukraine. The purpose of the lecture series is to familiarize interested persons with Ukraine, namely, its history, language, literature, political system, foreign policy, economy and recent challenges for the country.
Elena Shevchenko, Professor of Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv and Alla Golovnia, Professor of the National Aviation University of Ukraine, will deliver the course. The lecturers joined Ilia State University in May 2022 within the framework of the Ukrainian Academics at Risk program launched by Ilia State University in solidarity with the Ukrainian academic community.
Listeners will become familiar with the history of Ukraine from ancient times to the present day, the various aspects of Ukrainian culture, and the factors that influenced the formation of Ukrainian culture. Interested persons will have the opportunity to learn about Ukraine’s economic potential, key sectors of the economy and leading national brands.
Particular attention will be paid to the evolution of Ukraine’s domestic and foreign policy from the collapse of the Soviet Union to the present day, the struggle of the Ukrainian people for independence, and the modern revolutions in Ukraine. The speakers will talk about the Russian war against Ukraine, its hybrid component, the so-called idea of the;Russian world" and the dangers of spreading this ideology in Ukraine and Russia, as well as in other countries.

- Formation of the Ukrainian political system after independence

The lecture series will start on 24th May 2022.
The lecture series will be delivered in a hybrid mode. Students will be able to attend lectures both in class and remotely via Zoom.
