Ilia State University hosted the inaugural Memory Project event

Today, on June 14, Ilia State University hosted the inaugural Memory Project event.

The Memory Project is a shared initiative devoted to uncovering untold Georgian stories, preserving cultural heritage, documenting the history of repressions, empowering emerging voices, and promoting solidarity.

The event brought together supporters and partners to reaffirm Ilia State University's academic freedom and institutional independence. It featured speeches from the following speakers:

  • Robin L. Dunnigan, U.S. Ambassador to Georgia
  • Prof. Nino Doborjginidze, Rector of Ilia State University
  • Prof. Stephen Jones, Director of Georgian Studies Program, Davis Center, Harvard University
  • Ketevan Darakhvelidze, Chancellor of Ilia State University
  • Prof. Beka Kobakhidze, Ilia State University
  • Ryan Sherman, Project Manager
