Botany Institute of Ilia State University joins the events within “Ilia State University turns 10 years old” with its final conference within the framework of the Volkswagen Foundation programme.

On May 17-21, 2016, at the University of Giessen, Germany, within the Volkswagen Foundation programme “Between Europe and Asia” the final conference of the project AMIES II, Scenario development for sustainable land use in the Greater Caucasus, Georgia, will be conducted.

From Ilia State University, three professors Gia Nakhutsrishvili, Shalva Sikharulidze and Maia Akhalkatsi were involved In the 2 year project having started in 2014.

Final results of the project will be presented at the conference by Prof. of Ilia State University, Maia Akhalkatsi.  The topic of her speech is “Agrobiodiversity and Genetic Erosion of Crop Varieties and Plant Resources in the Central Great Caucasus“.
