Cleveland State University US Embassy Funded Project Visit to Ilia State University

Ilia State University (ISU), Cleveland State University and Tbilisi Regional Development Agency launched the University and Research and Entrepreneurial Skills Project funded by U.S. Department of State through U.S. Mission to Georgia.

On the 8th of February Center for Economic Development at Maxine Goodman Levin College of Urban Affairs, Centers for Outreach and Engagement at Monte Ahuja College of Business of Cleveland State University (CSU) and Tbilisi Regional Development Agency (RDA) visited Ilia State University on this partnership project.

The objective of this project is to encourage entrepreneurship, inspire university research and commercialization, foster university-industry collaboration, and create entrepreneurship ecology within universities and the region.

The CSU-Ilia-RDA team met with Nino Doborjginidze, ISU Vice-Rector for Research and Academic, Dimitri Japaridze – ISU Acting Dean of the Faculty of Technology, Management, and Education and its faculty and research staff, Development Office, Technology Commercialization Office (TCO) and pre-accelerator ZoomOut representatives to discuss the challenges of entrepreneurships education in cross-disciplinary environment, faculty engagement in teaching and conducting research on entrepreneurship, student involvement in educational and extracurricular entrepreneurship activities, and positioning Ilia State in broader regional entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The CSU-Ilia-RDA team visited the fab lab meeting with its staff and discussing student projects completed in the lab, opportunities to conduct training in the lab, and vision for further development of the lab within the integrated entrepreneurship ecosystem.

The partnership program between ISU and Cleveland State University is being coordinated by ISU Development Office.

The program is implemented within the Federal Assistance Award – the University Research and Entrepreneurship Skills Program, funded by the U.S. Department of State administered by the US Embassy in Tbilisi, Georgia – Public Affairs Section (PAS)
