On 19 February 2021, at 18:00, the ISU School of Law and the Editorial/Advisory Board of a journal Constitutional Law Review published by the School hold an event dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the adoption of the first Constitution of Georgia

The First Constitution of Georgia 100 Years Later: Legal and Political Aspects

The event will be opened by ISU Rector, Professor Giga Zedania, Vice-President of the Venice Commission, former Prime Minister of Bulgaria and former Head of EU Delegation to Georgia, Philip Dimitrov and Vice-President of the Noe Jordania Institute, Christine Paghava-Boulez.

Invited speakers from Georgia, Lietuva, Poland, the USA and France will engage in two panel discussions to be moderated respectively by Giorgi Papuashvili, Professor at ISU, former Chair of the Advisory Board of the journal and former President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia and Beka Kobakhidze, Associate Professor at ISU and the supervisor of the Master’s Degree Programme in Modern Georgian History.

  • Hanna Suchocka, Professor at Adam Mickiewicz University in Poznań, former Vice-President and Honorary President of the Venice Commission, former Prime Minister of Poland.  
  •  Dainius Žalimas, President of the Constitutional Court of Lietuva, Professor at Vilnius University
  •  Beka Kobakhidze, Professor at ISU
  • Giorgi Papuashvili, Professor at ISU, former President of the Constitutional Court of Georgia  

The speakers will discuss such important issues as Constitution-Making: the Perspectives of Lietuva, Poland and Georgia, Geopolitics of the Caucasus and The Internal Political Situation in Georgia during the Constitution-Making Process. The speakers will also answer questions from the audience.
