Discussions

The Human Rights Film Club of School of Law of Ilia State University invites you to the screening and discussion of the film “The Day I Became a Woman” with the support of the USAID Rule of Law Program on October 19 at 19:00.

“The Day I Became a Woman”, a film by Marzieh Meshkini-Makhmalbaf from 2000s, describes what it means to be born a woman in Iran. The film tells us three stories and depicts the three stages of a woman's life – childhood, adulthood and old age.

Important processes are taking place in Iran today. The wave of protests that followed the death of 22-year-old Mahsa Amini has spread to many cities and towns around Iran. During the discussion, we will talk about the reality and historical context in Iran, women's rights and the current protest with the speaker.

At the end of the semester, the 3 most active (activity is calculated by the number of signatures on the attendance sheet) students attending the events organized by the Human Rights Department will be identified, who will be awarded by the Dean of the School of Law.
