Ilia State University is implementing the project “Development of Georgian legal culture through the growth of practical skills of future lawyers” with the support of the USAID Rule of Law Program. Ilia State University, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University are participating in the project.

These universities are announcing the registration of those who wish to participate in the competition “Mock Trial in Private Law” for students of law schools/faculties within the framework of the project.

The mock trial case will be based on the following subjects: law of obligations, law of statutory obligation, contract law and corporate law.

The purpose of the mock trial is to develop the practical and legal representation skills of the bachelor's students of the universities participating in the project and to promote the mutual cooperation of the students.

Terms of participation in the competition:

Student groups from Ilia State University, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University will take part in the mock trial. Each team should consist of 4 (four) students. Please note that a maximum of three teams from each named university can participate in the competition (in total - no more than nine teams from all universities). The team coach must be a representative of the academic staff of one of the universities (it is preferable to register the team coach with the team, but it is not mandatory). If more than one team from a university is registered, they may have the same coach.
The mock trial will be held in Georgian.

The written work and oral presentations of the teams will be evaluated by the competition commission composed of practicing lawyers of the universities.

Competition prizes

First, second and third place students/groups of students will be awarded with gift vouchers.

Certificates will be awarded to the participants of the competition.

Registration for the competition

Registration of competition participants is possible only electronically at the following e-mail address: competition2023@iliauni.edu.ge. Please indicate “Mock Trial” in the subject field of your email.

Please indicate the student's first name, last name, studying semester, name of the university (also, if you have a coach - his/her first name, last name and academic status) in the letter. Note that only bachelor's students of law schools/faculties of Ilia State University, Iakob Gogebashvili Telavi State University and Batumi Shota Rustaveli State University are eligible to participate in the competition.
