On 5 February 2018, at 17:00, ISU book House Ligamus will host a panel discussion - "Human Rights in an Era of Fake News " 

“Fake News” as now seen is one of the greatest treats to democracy, freedom of speech and free debate.  

“Human Rights in the Era of Fake News” is a panel discussion organized by Human Rights Chair at Ilia State University in cooperation with international human rights NGO Truth Hounds and Tbilisi Shelter City Program which discusses main challenges of human rights defenders in the battle with fake news. 

The event focuses on Georgian, Ukrainian, Russian and Dutch contexts and the concerns human rights defenders have to address in these countries.

  • Sebastian Van Der Swaan – Director of NGO Justice & Peace (Netherlands) 
  • Maria Kvitsinskaia – Analyst of Social Organization CrimeaSOS (Ukraine)
  • Sergey Fedulov – Journalist, Human Rights House Voronezh (Russia)

Tamar Kordzaia – Visiting lecturer at Ilia State University (Georgia)
