David Fiuczynski, Professor at Berklee College of Music, will deliver a lecture

On May 12, at 13:00 p.m., the concert of David Fiuczynski, celebrated American jazz guitarist, researcher and composer, will be held at Ilia State University, Auditorium B201. He has recorded more than 95 music albums.

 "A jazz musician who doesn't want to play just jazz", is how David Fiuczynski describes himself. His work is particularly multi-genre and synthesizes rhythmic and intonation elements of jazz, funk, fusion, microtonal, non-European, electroacoustic music.

In 2012, David Fuzinski founded the Planet MicroJam Institute at Berklee College of Music exploring the use of the of microtones in Western European music, jazz, ethnic folk music, and various contexts. https://bit.ly/3N0JmfL

The musician has been a member of the Mass Cultural Council since 2009. Fiuczynski was awarded a 2011 Guggenheim Fellowship for his contribution to the development of art. This is David Fuzinski's second concert tour to Tbilisi. He first appeared in front of a Georgian audience in Tbilisi Jazz Festival in 2014. This time the musician visits Georgia within the framework of the project "Georgian MicrojamZ - M F TroniX” of Associate Professor at Berklee College of Music, pianist Giorgi Mikadze.

On May 11-15, successful and internationally renowned jazz artists and contemporary musicians, professors from Berklee College of Music - guitarist David Fiuczynski, pianist Giorgi Mikadze, bassist Panagiotis Andreu and drummer Jarrell Campbell will deliver lectures and master classes at Ilia State University and the Vano Sarajishvili Tbilisi State Conservatoire; on May 13 -they will perform  the concert at "Republic”.

The aim of the project is to deepen the 30-year creative partnership and friendly relations between Georgia and America; Strengthen cultural contacts; establish professional connections between artists, facilitate creative dialogue and collaboration between American and Georgian jazz musicians; Acquaint theoretically and practically, representatives from Georgian art and education spheres, with the work of Georgian and American musicians working in the USA and with the educational programs of  the prestigious Berklee College of Music.

Giorgi Mikadze's project "Georgian MicrojamZ - M F TroniX" is presented by the Embassy of the United States of America in Georgia. It is supported by Tbilisi City Hall and organized by "Georgian Art Agency". The partner of the project is "Republic".
