The Programming Club of Computing Center at Ilia State University presents a weekly series of meetings for people interested in Computer Science.

The topic of the December 22 meeting is "Functional Programming in JavaScript".

Discussion topics:

  • A brief history of functional programming
  • Pure Functions
  • Higher-order Functions
  • Currying
  • Some useful operators for working with arrays and vectors (map, filter, reduce, sort)
  • Promise in JavaScript
  • Additional questions

About the Speaker:

Levan Roinishvili, the founder at Le One, where he advises other companies on how to build complex internet applications.

After graduating from the School of Komarov and the Faculty of Mathematics at TSU, Levan continued his postgraduate studies with a Muskie Scholarship in 1998-2000. After returning to Georgia, he worked as a programmer in a microfinance bank, then he was involved in a project by the British consulting company OPM, which helped Georgia carry out healthcare reform. This is where Levan’s career path went from an IT consultant to a management trainer. He then taught at the American University of Central Asia. Today Levan lives and works in the UK and is a consultant in the field of creating complex internet applications.
