WINNER OF ILIAUNI LITERARY COMPETITION TO BE ANNOUNCED

Events

On May 27, at 19:00, at Ilia State University Book House Ligamus, the winner of Iliauni Literary Competition – the author of the best Georgian novel published in 2014-2015 will be announced. The winner will get the cash prize of 10 000 GEL.
24 Georgian novels were presented at Iliauni Literary Competition this year. The novels are listed below:

On May 27, the best from the above listed novels was selected by the jury, the names of the members of which

are kept confidential. The members of the jury are professors and students of the Ilia State University.  

HISTORY OF ILIAUNI LITERARY COMPETIOTION
Iliauni Literay Competition has existed for 6 years. In 2010, the accademic board of the university introduced a literary award for the best novel.

Before 2015, the award was won by 5 contestants. In 2010, the prize was won by Aka Morchiladze for the novel “Mamluki”, while in 2011, the award was bestowed upon Zaza Burtchuladze for the novel “Inflatable Angel.” In 2013, the award was granted to Ana Kordzaia-Samadashvili for thde novel “Who Killed Chak” and Jaba Zakrua for his novel “The Reader Must Die.”

In 2014, Academic Board of Ilia State University decided to bestow the award upon the best translator of a foreign language novel. Zaza Burtchuladze was  announced as a winner for his translation “Flags in the Dust” by William Faulkner.
