Timothy P. Trainer at Iliauni

On October 6, 17:00, Ilia State University Hall A 101(Chavchavadze Ave. 32) will host a public lecture by Timothy Trainer, expert consultant in the sphere of intellectual property (IP).

The career of Timothy Trainer in the field of intellectual property (IP) incorporates the working experience in state and private sectors. In 1980s, he was the first attorney at the IPR Task Force at the U.S. Customs Service. He worked with customs officers and delivered the consultations for the Office of Trade Representative on customs control of product.

Mr. Trainer was a special advisor in the field of IP rights protection issues at the U.S. Patent and Trademark Office’s (USPTO). As well, he provided special training programs in the sphere of IP rights, participated in the bilateral trade consultations and represented USPTO in the World Intellectual Property Organization (WIPO).

In the private sector, Mr. Trainer was an associate in the Washington, D.C., Law Firm and President of International AntiCounterfeiting Coalition (IACC; 1999-2005). He also co-chaired the UN Economic Commission for Europe’s IP Advisory Group and was a member of INTERPOL’s IP Crime Action Group.  

Mr. Trainer participated in various training programs of foreign countries and worked on the national legislation. In 2005, Mr. Trainer founded the Global Intellectual Property Strategy Center and since this period, he has been conducting consultations in the spheres of IP rights monitoring, trade firm licensing and legislation. 

In 2007, Mr. Trainer founded Galaxy Systems, Inc (www.galaxysystemsinc.com ), which highlights the online working programs regarding IP rights protection. Mr. Thimothy is a co-author of the book titled “Border Enforcement of Intellectual Property“ which is annually updated with new information
