the nomination and application period for the  National Teacher Prize 2023 began with the opening ceremony held at the Ilia Chavchavadze Literary-Memorial Museum.

This contest, initiated and organized by the Education Coalition, is held for the seventh time this year and aims to identify successful teachers, introduce them to the general public and thus enhance the prestige of the teaching profession.

The event organizers spoke about the terms and conditions of the contest, campaign phases, the jury, supporters and the final event. A Memorandum of Cooperation (MoC) between the Education Coalition and Alte University was signed at the meeting. According to the MoC, Alte University becomes a partner of the National Teacher Prize and will award the winner at the 2023 final ceremony. Moreover, Alte University will be an exclusive partner of the National Teacher Prize Top Ten club.

“We launch the National Teacher Prize campaign for the seventh time this year and we are delighted that today it is the most well-known, prestigious and recognized professional contest in Georgia. One of the key factors is the successful cooperation between the public and private sectors. The jury composed of publicly recognized individuals in the education field is another factor. This year the jury has been increased by two members:  Lika Ghlonti (head of the EU4Dialogue Project) and Davit Gorgiladze (author); Alte University has also joined the list of supporters. There is no change in any of the qualitative aspects, technically and procedurally. Therefore, everything remains the same for teachers and we expect their active involvement” – said Irina Khantadze, the Education Coalition Board Chairperson.

„Since 2019 Iliauni has been cooperating with the Education Coalition as part of the National Teacher Prize campaign. Such projects aim to promote the teaching profession and school education development in general. One of the important tasks for Iliauni is to provide a scientific response to the challenges facing society. In this regard, the University plays an important role in the sustainable development of both the country and society. We believe that the future long-term development of Georgian society today depends on education. School education itself plays a unique role in the education system. Therefore, as part of this prize, as well as other scientific and academic projects, Iliauni fully supports any project or initiative which ultimately results in better schools, promoting the teaching profession and contributing to the future development of this essential part of the education system” – said Professor Giorgi Gvalia, Vice Rector of Ilia State University.

The nomination of teachers and submission of applications will be possible from March 17 to April 30 at the National Teacher Prize website: www.tprize.ge
