Ilia State University has been organizing the Summer School "South Caucasus - Culture, Society and Politics" for five years. This year the Summer School will be opened on September 6 and 22 German and 6 Georgian students will participate. The summer school is organized with the support from The German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD), in the frames of the project "GoEast".

The aim of the summer school is to help the understanding of the Caucasus, as the phenomenon in the European academic space and with this to participate in the process of bringing closer European and Caucasian countries culturally and politically.

Georgian and German students will attend seminars and presentations during two weeks which will be led by Dr. Uwe Halbach (Fund for Science and Politics, Berlin) and Dr. Florian Mühlfried (Friedrich-Schiller-University, Jena). The participants of the summer school will meet Georgian experts in different spheres, artists and politicians.

Seminars and meetings will be held in Tbilisi. The excursions to Mtskheta, Uplistsikhe, David-Gareja, Signangi and Kazbegi are planned for the participants.
After finishing the course the participants will be awarded with certificates (3 credits).
