Seminar “About TV Series”

On December 13, 17:00, Ilia State University will host a seminar “About TV Series”.

The TV series emerged in the 50es of the previous century. Everyone agrees that during the last 15 years, their quality has been radically changed for the better. The attitude of viewers has also altered in Georgia and the rest of the world. Almost disappeared snobbery towards the “genre for the masses”, and the aesthetic and intellectual interests emerged instead.Despite these interests, the theoretical reflection on the TV series, as an aesthetic-sociological or aesthetic-historical phenomenon, still remains very limited in the western academies and completely non-existent in Georgia.
The seminar aims to fill the existing gaps. The first speech “About TV Series: Brave New World” will be delivered by Prof. Gigi Tevzadze. And, the second one will be made by Prof. Giga Zedania “The form of TV Series: From the 19th Century Literature to the Modern TV”.
