On May 8, at 13:00, Alexander Vinnikov, the Head of the NATO Liaison Office, will give a public lecture in room E207 at Ilia State University The lecture is on the relations between the NATO and Georgia.

About the Speaker

On February 1 the Dutch diplomat Alexander Vinnikov took up his assignment as the Head of the NATO Liaison Office in Georgia. The office activities also cover Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Alexander Vinnikov served as the Head of the NATO Representation to Ukraine for six years from 2015 to August 2021.

Earlier he headed the NATO Liaison Office in Central Asia and worked at the NATO Headquarters in both the Political Affairs and Security Policy Division and the Defence Policy and Planning Division. He has previously served with the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe (OSCE) in several positions.

He started his career as an international relations researcher at Oxford University, Harvard Kennedy School, and Geneva Center for Security Policy.

A diplomat Alexander Vinnikov holds academic degrees from Oxford University, Sciences-Po Paris, and the London School of Economics, and he speaks seven languages.
