PUBLIC LECTURE BY DOCTOR MATTHIAS RIEDL – APOCALYPTIC VIOLENCE AND THE VISION OF GLOBAL CRISIS

On December 13, at 18:30, at Ilia State University Book House “Ligamus,” associated professor of Central European University, Doctor Matthias Riedl will deliver a public lecture: “Apocalyptic Violence and the Vision of Global Crisis“.

Regarding the Presenter: Matthias Reidl is an associated professor of the Department of History of the Central European University; he is also the Head of this Department and Researcher of Religious Studies Center. At different points in time, he taught at the Universities of Lyon, Duke, Erlanger-Nuremberg and headed a number of summer schools organized by the European University.

Into his research are fall the subjects as follows: Early Modern Epoch, The History of Church, The History of Theology, The Era of Reformation, Interrelations between Religion and Politics, Religion and Politics, etc.

Among his works are: „Living in the Future – Proleptic Existence in Religion, Politics and Art“, „Dante and the Politics of Universal Mankind“, „The Secular Sphere in Western Theology - A Historical Reconsideration“ etc.

The lecture will be held within the framework of the cycle of lectures supported by the programme “The Swiss Academic Network of Caucasus.”
