Presentation of the book: "Typicon of the Jerusalem Cross Monastery"
On November 24, at 18:00, at the Book House of Ilia State University "Ligamus", a presentation of the prepared book ,,Typicon of the Jerusalem Cross Monastery" will be held by Prof. Irina Lobzhanidze (see http://manuscript.iliauni.edu.ge/).
Along with the book, Irina Lobzhanidze will present to the scientific society the results of the joint research program of Georgian Studies of Sciences of Oxford University and Shota Rustaveli National Science Foundation of Georgia. In particular, the Wardrops’ Online Collection (WCO), a part of which is the 14th-century Georgian manuscript, the Typicon of the Jerusalem Cross Monastery preserved in the Bodleian Library.
The Wardrops’ Collection Online (WCO) was created using the latest digital humanities methodology. Manuscripts are hosted in a noSQL database and linked to photographs hosted in the Baudelaire Digital Library using the IIIF manifest, see https://iiif.io/.
The first online resource of Georgian manuscripts is the project implemented by Prof. Irina Lobzhanidze, which has been prepared with this cutting-edge methodology of modern digital humanities and integrated into the portal of the European Association for Digital Humanities (EADH), (see .https://bit.ly/3EHaQWt).
The editors of the book, Nino Doborjginidze and Tamaz Kochlamazashvili, will talk about the necessity of using modern technologies in documenting and researching the manuscript heritage preserved in Georgia, on the educational and research programs introduced in this direction, as well as on the textual issues of the Jerusalem Typicon.
