PRESENTATION OF NEW CERTIFICATION COURSE ON CLIMATE CHANGE

On May 13, at 16:00, at Ilia State University a presentation of a new certification course “Climate Change “will be arranged. After the presentation, international expert, Hans Verolme, will deliver a public lecture, while Georgian experts will focus the attention of the audience on the challenges posed to Georgia in the era of climate change.

The event is being held with the financial support of Heinrich Böll Foundation within the framework of the project by Analytical Fund World Experience for Georgia (WEG), which aims to foster the advancement of civil society, public sector and educational institutions.

The Faculty of Earth Sciences of Ilia State University, as well as the Institute of Energy and Sustainable Development are actively involved in research activities related to climate change. The new certification course of “Climate Change “will be a step forward in this direction.

Aim of the Certification Course
The certification course aims to provide the audience with exhaustive information regarding global climate change and economic, social and environmental threats posed to the earth today, as well as present them with different possibilities to repel these threats and change the situation for the better. The audience will also be informed regarding initiations of International Collaboration and Georgia’s possible involvement in them.

Regarding Hans Verolme
Hans Verolme has worked on the issues of climate change for 20 years. Now he performs his professional activities in Berlin. In the past, he was a Senior Advisor at British Embassy and WWF Director. In 2008, he founded the International Network centering on devising climate change policy throughout the world. Hans Verolme is also a member of the US Climate Action Network (CAN).
