Liberal Arts Program Meeting

The first and second year students choosing their major and minor studying fields were hosted and welcomed by the students and professors of ISU Liberal Arts Undergraduate Program, with a cake decorated with words “Good Cake for Existence, Books for Good Life”.

The meeting was held on September 22, Hall A304 where the roundtable lectures of liberal arts program usually take place. The program is based on the style of studying which re-emerged in the beginning of 20th century at the American collages and is still considered as the best one.

The program of liberal arts (liberal education) was created by the American-Georgian Initiative for Liberal Education in cooperation with James Madison College for ISU students in 2007.

The former and current students of the program such as Giga Khositashvili, Tamar Kintsurashvili and Ruska Varshalomidze talked about the courses of the program and expressed their impressions.  Mr. Gia Nodia, Mr. Charles Fairbanks, Mr. Levan Gigineishvili, Ms. Mariam Gvelesiani and Ms. Manana Anasashvili, professors of the liberal arts program, discussed the actual topics referring to the liberal education as well as delivered information about the courses prepared for the fall semester of 2011.
