ISU REPORT ON ITS SCIENTIFIC-RESEARCH ACTIVITY – EVGENI KHARADZE ABASTUMANI ASTROPHYSICAL OBSERVATORY

Events

On December 12, at 18:00, within the framework of the report on scientific-research activity of Iliauni, the scientific-research projects will be presented by the so called Evgeni Kharadze Abastumani Astrophysical Observatory of Ilia State University (ISU) at room E207 of ISU (Cholokashvili Ave., #3/5).

Presentation of 2 scientific-research projects will be held.

The report on the topic “Sun and Cosmic Weather” will be given by Prof. Temur Zakarashvili.

Annotation

The Sun is the closest star having the great influence on the solar system, the earth’s atmosphere and living organisms, which is why exploration of the Sun is of critical importance for further scientific-technical development of the mankind. The solar physics group is a young rapidly developing research unit with connections with different scientific centers and universities around the world, as well as the right to access materials obtained through observations by the latest cosmic telescopes and those on the earth. The report will touch upon the key issues in solar physics, as well as the research conducted by the group to provide a solution to the problem. The speaker will also discuss the future scientific-research plans of the group.

The report on the topic “atmosphere-ionosphere processes as indicators of climate change and cosmic weather development” will be made by Prof. Goderdzi Didebulidze.

Annotation

The speaker will focus on the results of ongoing experimental and theoretical researches into the earth’s atmosphere as well as the space. The consequences showing the connection of long-term changes in atmosphere-ionosphere parameters with the cosmic factor, the climate change in the Caucasus region as well as the dynamic processes characteristic of the region will also be demonstrated. Regional and global importance of the researches and the future plans of their development will also be described.

Date and time: December 12, 18:00

Venue: room E207, ISU, Cholokashvili Ave., #3/5
