First Bioblitz in Tbilisi

Events

A Bioblitz event will be held on May 26, the Independence Day of Georgia, from 11:00 to 17:00, in the open celebration space of the National Botanical Garden of Georgia (event square) within the framework of the Caucasus Life Barcode (CaBOL) project.

The participants of the event will have the opportunity to get acquainted with living organisms in Georgia and participate in the following working groups:

  • Flying insects
  • Soil invertebrates
  • Water invertebrates
  • Plants
  • Reptiles and birds

The working groups will visit the Botanical Garden on an hourly basis and during this time, in addition to the collection techniques, they will receive interesting and important information about the needs of invertebrates and their role.

Participants will be given the opportunity to engage in small fieldwork in addition to important theoretical information, which includes techniques for collecting different types of samples in the Botanical Garden area, as well as different processing options for these samples.

The aim of the event is to deepen the participants' interest in wildlife and to introduce them to observation and research techniques.

The event will be hosted by researchers from the Faculty of Natural Sciences and Medicine of Ilia State University and students involved in the project.
