“Darwin Day” at the Iliauni

On April 23, 13:00 Ilia State University is celebrating a Darwin Day. Event will take place at 3/5 Chlokhashvili Street, Building G, 5th floor.

During the joint project of the British Council and the Georgian National Museum it is planed to organize an exhibition and a public lecture at the Ilia State University. The project is dedicated to the bicentennial of Darwin’s birth and 150 years from publishing of his work ”On the Origin of Species”. 

According to numerous scientists Darwin was ahead of his time. His revolutionary theory of evolution left him opposed to the religion. Discussions on the topic still remain urgent.

During the event Rector of the Ilia State University Prof. Gigi Tevzadze and Prof. David Tarkhnishvili will address the audience. Welcome speeches will be followed by an extensive talk of the Director of the Georgian National Museum David Lordkipanidze.
