Workshop in Theater Lighting

On March 7 at 3:00 p.m. and March 8 at 1:00 p.m. Ilia State University Theater will host workshops for Georgian theater directors and stage and light designers by a well-known American lighting designer, Jennifer Tipton.

On March 6 at 5 p.m. Jennifer Tipton will meet Georgian theater professionals at auditorium A101.

Jennifer Tipton is a professor at Yale Drama School. She is well known for her work in dance, theater and opera. Her recent work in dance includes Paul Taylor's Three Dubious Memories  for the Royal Ballet, London. Her recent work in theater includes The Glass Menagerie at the Mark Taper. Her most recent work in opera includes Aida directed by David McVicar at the Royal Opera House, London. Ms. Tipton teaches lighting at the Yale School of Drama. Among many awards she is the recipient of the Dorothy and Lillian Gish Prize in 2001 and the Jerome Robbins Prize in 2003.

Jennifer Tipton’s visit to Georgia is co-organized by Ilia State University and Public Affairs Section of the United States Embassy to Georgia.
