Ilia State University the Institute of Comparative Literature in collaboration with the project “Developing PhD Schools in Ukraine and Georgia” financed by European Union program “Tempus” invites you to participate in the 4^th international conference of comparative literature: “Transforming of Identities: Cultural Identities and Modern Europe”. The conference will be held at Ilia State University on June 24-26, 2013. The plenary speakers of the conference: David Ayers professor at University of Kent, the head of international network of avant-garde and modernism, Great Britain; Monique Castillo, professor at University of Paris XII, France. Topics of presentations are limitless. The presentations of intercultural/interdisciplinary character will be accepted.

The topics of thematic session are:

• Identities and their transformation;
• Cultural identity and politics;
• The role of literature/culture in identity formation;
• Modern Europe and European identity;
• Modernity and identity in Eastern Europe;

For participation in the conference please send a request before May 15: Abstract – indicating the title and thematic areal of the research, 200 words; Data – Name and surname, academic title, employment place, address and telephone.

PhD students are asked to send the application with the recommendation from the supervisor.

You will be notifed about the decision of the qualifying committee until May 20. The working languages of the conference are Georgian and English. Thematic sessions will be held in English.
