The workshop took place at the Stephantsminda Institute of Alpine Ecology. The Seventh Framework Program of research and technology development, which is administered by the European Commission, is the biggest program of research development in the world with a total budget of 50 billion Euros. Part of the money will be spent on research grants throughout Europe and beyond its borders and provide co-financing for research, technological development and demonstration projects. The program is scheduled to take place over seven years (2007–2013).
