Theatre Opening at the Ilia State University
On September 30, 2010 the theatre of Ilia State University opened its doors with A. Tsagareli’s play “My Wit is the Reason” (vaudeville). The play was directed by Otar Egadze and involved the actors: David Gotsiridze, Vasil Odishvili, Maka Dzagania etc.
Before the start of the play students of the Ilia State University gave an additional improvised performance to celebrate its opening with the audience. According to Otar Egadze, the theatre of the Iliauni plans to offer its visitors new and innovative performances.
It is the first university theatre in Georgia to be established at the cultural-educational institution and to be offered for youth theatre initiatives.
The theatre of Ilia State University will become a place to invite different directors and their companies. The theatre will also host workshops on theatrical art, discussions with prominent artists and art critics.
The theatre of Ilia State University has hopes of hosting six thousand interested spectators, which is a success in itself.
