The Success of the Team of the Law School

On April 24-25 and 27-28, 2013 Ilia State University team of the Law School participated in the national competition of commercial mediation. 

The competition was organized by Ivane Javakhishvili State University National Centre for Solving the Case Alternatively in collaboration with USA International Development Agency (USAID), South Texas Law School, East-West Management Institute (EWMI) and Jury Independence and Legal Enforcement Project.

On April 24, 25 English language training in mediation for preparation participant teams was held. In the frames of these training students mastered needed abilities for client's representative management in the mediation process. National competition was held on April 27-28 with leadership of Texas Law School professors Kathrin Barnett and Kimberly Kovak and law schools from countries all leading universities were taking part.

The team of Iliauni Law School (Maka Tokhmazashvili, Anri Pkhakadze, Zurad Natroshvili, Nadezhda Merabishvili; trainer Irina Agapishvili) successfully completed two processes of selection stage and presented exemplary in the semi finals against the team of Ivane Javakhishvili State University and later got to the finals with the team of Free University Law School.

On the final stage the team showed a brilliant play as a team, adroitness and the abilities to manage mediation process on the professional level and Ilia State University team had a convincing victory and as a result won the right to present Georgia in the international competition for commercial mediation organized by International Chamber of Commerce (ICC), which will be held in February 2014 in Paris.

Participation in such competitions is very important for presenting Ilia State University name in the local and international arena!
