


Switzerland as a Special Case
An outstanding diplomat and scientist Paul Widmer visited Ilia State University and delivered a public lecture on “Case of Switzerland: Democracy and Neutrality”. The scientist introduced the development history of Switzerland to the audience, talked about the system management of the state and its administrative divisions. Mr. Widmer discussed the steps towards democratic development, importance of its neutrality and key features as well.
After the lecture, ISU bookstore “Ligamus” hosted a presentation of the Georgian translation of Paul Widmer’s book “Switzerland as a Special Case”. The presentation was attended by the Swiss Ambassador to Georgia Günter Besler and Gigi Tevzadze, rector of Ilia State University. They expressed their opinion and attitude about the book. The book analyzes political, social and cultural history of Switzerland with the purpose of answering the following questions: “Why is Switzerland a unique case? What is the main idea that it represents?”
