Social Housing - Student Competition

First stage of international architectural student competition was initiated by Swiss International Agency for Development, in Ilia State University, May 20-21, 2014. The aim of the project is to create comfortable space for socially underprivileged, homeless elders and IDPs.

Georgian Technical University Urban Architecture and Design students, Bern, Switzerland Applied Sciences University students and Ilia State University Engineering faculty Architecture students participated in the competition.

Participants' task was to create architectural projects of two types of housing for socially underprivileged, homeless people in Batumi. Joint group of Georgian and Swiss students drafted for 2 days and then presented blueprints. Blueprints were discussed and future plans were set.

The second stage of the competition involves completely finishing blueprints during the spring semester and revealing the winner. Students will present completed projects in July. Presentation and final competition will be held and Batumi municipality will receive the winning project for implementation.
