Series of Debates at Ilia State University
The students of Ilia State University organized the first debate dedicated to the topic – should general education be compulsory.
The participants presented their arguments and expressed their opinions about negative and positive sides of compulsory education. Afterwards, they answered questions of the audience.
Professors and students of Ilia State University and journalists attended the debates. Simon Janashia, Professor of Ilia State University, facilitated the discussion and noted that the debate would help students in developing professional skills and train them in expressing their opinion. Also, students were given a chance to analyze the issues that at first seemed to be quite clear, but in fact needed an in-depth analysis.
The discussions on education matters will be organized at Ilia State University every week. The theme of the next debate will be – what must be higher education policy focused on?
