


Professor Nino Dobojginidze elected as Rector of Ilia State University

By decision of 11 March 2022 of the Academic Council of the Ilia State University, Nino Doborjginidze was elected as new rector of Ilia State University for a four-year term.
Nino Doborjginidze, PHD in Linguistics, professor at the Ilia State University, directs the Institute of Linguistic Studies. She was also Rector's Advisor for Research and Teaching.
Nino Doborjginidze has been working at Ilia State University since the day of its establishment.

The competition for the position of Rector of the Ilia State University was announced on 24 December 2021.
Two candidates participated in the election – Nino Doborjginidze and Giorgi Gegelashvili.
Nino Doborjginidze was unanimously elected by all the eight members of the Academic Council participating in the election process.
“It is indeed a great honor to lead one of the youngest state universities, which in such a short time, has become a leading institution in Georgia in the field of research and teaching, as well as in the formation of civic culture and public opinion."
Nino Doborjginidze will take up her duties as Rector from March 24 and will lead the university for a four-year term.
