


Presentation of the Laboratory for Natural Sciences
On December 1, Ilia State University held presentation of the Laboratory for Natural Sciences and Doors Open day for the school teachers of natural sciences, physics, chemistry and biology.
Five main priorities that this module is based on were presented to the audience. The presentation was led by the head of professional retraining for teachers program Marika Kapanadze. She emphasized the fact that the presentation was attended by more teachers from the regions and this justified the aims of the project - involvement of Georgian regions and increasing their interest.
In the first part of presentation Marika Kapanadze presented teachers professional retraining programs and the second part was for the practical work in the laboratory. Several experiments in all three subjects in natural sciences were shown. She also talked briefly about the project on basis of which abovementioned laboratory was established. According to her this was the first time that Georgia was coordinator of TEMPUS project SALiS among 10 universities united in the project. The project was implemented on the basis of collaboration of universities from European (Ireland, Germany, and Bulgaria) and other partner countries (Georgia, Moldova, Israel).
In the frames of the project SALiS equipped with the modern devices laboratory was established, where the lectures are delivered for the university students of natural sciences. Laboratory also works in the direction of teachers retraining.
ISU professors prepared and got accreditation the following programs for teachers retraining:
- Active teaching in natural sciences on 7th grade, integrated course (2 credits)
- Active teaching in physics on the general education school level on the basic and intermediate level (2 credits)
- Active teaching in chemistry on the general education school level on the basic and intermediate level (2 credits)
- Active teaching in biology on the general education school level on the basic and intermediate level (2 credits)
