Presentation of European Union Monitoring Mission

The European Union Monitoring Mission presented its final report to the students of Ilia State University.

Presentations took place on October 12, 2010 at Ilia State University. The head of the monitoring mission’s press and public relations office, Stephen Brady talked to the students about the activities of the mission. According to him starting from October 1, 2008 more than 200 representatives of the EUMM are involved in twenty-four-hour patrolling. Their special interest lies in monitoring the territories close to the Ossetian and Abkhazian administrative borders.  Mandates of the mission include stabilizing the situation, as well as normalizing and trust restoration.

The presentation was followed by a discussion and a Q&A session.

European Union Monitoring Mission (EUMM) is an unarmed civil monitoring mission which was established on September 15, 2008 and since August, war monitors fulfillment of the Georgia-Russia six paragraph agreements.
