Philosophical and Social Theory Aspects

Ilia State University Summer School "Philosophical and Social Theory Aspects of Fundamental Freedoms" was organized on August 2, 2012 with participation of 30 ISU students. The summer school was held in Abastumani.

Within the framework of the school, Georgian professors delivered the lectures together with their foreign colleagues - Prof. Walter Jaescke (Germany, Bochum), Prof. Niklaus Largier (USA, Berkley) and Dr. Stephan Zimmermann (Germany, Bonn) - invited by ISU S. Tsereteli Institute for Philosophy. The meeting was conducted in the lecture-seminar format. During the day, the participants attended the intensive lecture courses delivered by two different professors and afterward, they took part in the discussion.

The project aimed to popularize philosophical researches among students and show that the intellectual experience stored throughout the years by the mankind could be relevant and referred to the contemporary works. The bachelor, master and PhD students interested in philosophy, or social sciences in general, took part in the Summer School.
