Nana Mgaloblishvili was the chosen one of Ilia State University among the finalists for the National Teacher Award 2022

The final of the National Teacher Award was held on October 5. It was organized by the Education Coalition and supported by Ilia State University.

The winner of the National Teacher Award 2022 was Roland Shavadze, a teacher of English language of the public school of the Mekeidzeebi village in the Khulo Municipality.

Professor Nino Doborjginidze, the Rector of Ilia State University, with Mikheil Chkhenkeli, the Minister of Education and Science of Georgia, and Kelly Degnan, the Ambassador of the United States of America to Georgia, congratulated the finalists on their success, named the chosen one of Ilia State University and spoke about the importance of the competition and the cooperation of Ilia State University with it at the opening of the award ceremony.

Nana Mgaloblishvili, a teacher of Georgian language and literature at the parish school named after the Holy Mother of God in Chokhatauri, became the chosen one of Ilia State University.

Ilia State University will give her an award in the amount of 2,500 GEL, and provide school, where Mrs. Nana works - with its own publications.

Ira Dzirkvadze, a graduate of the School of Education of Ilia State University, a teacher of Georgian language and literature and English language in the public school of Gumbati village of Tsalka Municipality, was named among the top five finalists this year as in previous years. Publications of Ilia State University will be transferred to the school library of Tsalka and we will cooperate in regards with educational projects as well.

The winner of the 2022 was selected by the competition jury among the five best finalists. They are:

  • Mikheil Labartkava, a teacher of chemistry at the independent secular gymnasium “Shavnabada”;
  • Nana Mgaloblishvili, a teacher of Georgian language and literature at the parish school named after the Holy Mother of God in Chokhatauri;
  • Sofio Dzigrashvili, a special needs teacher at the N33 public school of Kutaisi;
  • Ira Dzirkvadze, a teacher of Georgian language and literature and English language at the public school of Gumbati village of Tsalka Municipality, a graduate of Ilia State University.

The National Teacher Award was established on May 13, 2017 based on a memorandum signed between the Education Coalition, the Ministry of Education and Science and the National Center for Teacher Professional Development. This initiative, which is being implemented in Georgia for the sixth time, is part of the global campaign - “The Global Teacher Prize” - aimed at popularizing teachers.

The general sponsor of the competition is the Gudavadze Patarkatsishvili Foundation, the gold sponsor is Liberty Bank.
Supporters are: Ministry of Education and Science, National Center for Teacher Professional Development, Ilia State University, EPAM Georgia, Consultation and Training Center (ctc), First Channel|Teleschool and digital-creative agency “Maverick”.
