


Mountain Tourism Development in Georgia
Ilia State University hosted a presentation dedicated to the launching of the Mountain Guides School of Georgia.
In spring of 2011, Iliauni will offer the mountain guides certificate courses to all interested persons and also, in 2012 the mentioned courses will be listed in the professional programs of the College of Sport.
The development of mountain tourism is one of the high priority areas for the economy of the country. The professional staff training is particularly important for the development process.
The mountain guide leads rock climbing, hiking; ski and mountain tours, takes responsibility for the security of the participants as well as plans and organizes tours.
Gigi Ugulava, Tbilisi Mayor, with other guests attended the presentation. Mr. Ugulava marked that the development of the tourism sector was one of the most important issues for Georgia and without the international standardized school it would be impossible to provide the future development.
