Guest Tour of the Ilia State University Theatre
On November 10-21, 2010 Akhaltsikhe State Theatre hosted theatre Festival of National Drama. During the festival, namely on November 11, 2010 the Ilia State University Theatre paid visit to the Meskheti State Theatre and presented there “My Mind is My Trouble” (director: Otar Egadze).
Performance, which was sold out was attended by more than 600 persons, among them the First Lady of Georgia Sandra Roelofs.
All theatres registered in Georgia participate in the Festival of National Drama: Rustaveli, Marjanishvili, Tumanishvili and Liberty Theatres, Theatre on Atoneli, theatre companies from Batumi and Kutaisi present their production to the audience during ten days. Raised funds will be donated to the Akhaltsikhe Theatre.
“Our Theatre has a long history. Meskheti State Theatre was established in 1874 and the first playbill dates back to that time,” – told us manager of the company Lia Suluashvili. Thanks to her Akhaltsikhe Theatre was able to preserve its traditions and continues its existence.
