


German Language Congress in Georgia 2011
Ilia State University hosted an opening ceremony of “German Language Congress in Georgia 2011”. The congress was dedicated to the German language methods and current trends occurring in Germanic studies. The event was organized by Ilia State University, German Language Teachers’ Association of Georgia, German Academic Exchange Service (DAAD) and Goethe Institute (Tbilisi).
The congress was opened by the representatives of the Embassy of Germany in Georgia and Mr. Sergo Ratiani, Head of ISU Administration.
After the opening ceremony, Dr. Hermann Funk, Professor at Friedrich Schiller University of Jena (FSU), made a speech on the topic “Germanic Studies and Methods of German Language Abroad - 2011”. The ceremony was accompanied by the music.
The partners of the project were: Friedrich Schiller University of Jena, German Language Teaching Central Agency for Schools Abroad and the Embassy of Germany in Georgia. The congress was open to teachers of school and higher education institutions.
The congress participants listened to the interesting lectures delivered by the outstanding professors working in the field of Germanic studies; attended the practical seminars on actual topics as well as checked up the materials of the German language teaching from the portfolios of well known publishers.
