Georgia vs. the USSR

On December 29, 2010 a second hearing of the moot court was held at the Ilia State University.

The project prepared and carried out within the framework of the Ilia State University Soviet and Post Soviet academic teaching, is based on the legal concept of the Nuremberg Trials.

The 1921 episode of the Occupation of the Democratic Republic of Georgia was reviewed on the second hearing. The charter of this trial, based on the standards of civilized, fair judicial practices and prepared according to the demands of the Georgian and International court proceedings, was approved by the Academic Council of the University.

On the hearing evidences for accusation and defense were presented by the students of the Ilia State University. The researchers who worked on the materials to allow fair decision on the matter were also questioned. 

The court hearing was presided by the Chairman of the Constitutional Court of Georgia, Giorgi Papuashvili.

Two more hearings are planned by the moot court. Academic research is also underway to prepare the following court cases "Religious Prosecution in the USSR", "Political Repressions in the USSR", "Repressions and Deportation of Caucasian People in the USSR", "Deportation of the Citizens of Georgia from Meskhet-Javakheti", "Responsibility of the USSR Communist Party for the Crimes Against Humanity" .
