Georgia Vs Soviet Union, Final Verdict
On February 25, ISU students organized a final session of moot court at Ilia State University. The jury carried out a final verdict regarding “Occupation of Democratic Republic of Georgia” as a legal episode of 1921.
“Guilty in the Crime of Aggression” comprises:
- Planning of the aggressive war
- Preparing the war
- Warfare that resulted a partial or total occupation of territories and afterwards, a full annexation of the independent state.
The trial based on the legal concept of Newberg International Tribunal of 1945 against Nazism was prepared within the framework of ISU Soviet and Post-soviet Research Studies.
During the final session, the students prepared a charter of the trial in compliance with the procedural requirements of Georgian and International Courts and according to civilized and fair trial standards. The charter was approved by the Scientific Council of the university. 
The students of Ilia State University presented materials of the defense and prosecution sides. The materials were identified, surveyed and analyzed through a year and a half working in the Archives of Georgia.
